A Luxurious Backyard Retreat in Pepper Pike
This backyard retreat in Pepper Pike blends luxury with functionality. The client aimed to create a pool experience that addresses diverse needs while overcoming the practical challenges of the yard’s stunning hillside setting. Moreover, the design had to accommodate both aesthetic and practical considerations.
Overcoming the Hillside Challenge
A steep elevation change at the back of the property inspired us to design the pool raised above ground, which maximized the view of the yard below. However, one significant challenge was placing the filtration equipment. To preserve the views, we designed a custom vault for the filtration system, buried into the hillside beneath the pool. As a result, this innovative solution ensures easy service access while maintaining the yard’s aesthetic appeal.
Integrating Wellness with Aesthetics
In addition to addressing practical challenges, we wanted to create a design that supports the client’s fitness and wellness activities without sacrificing style. To achieve this, we combined three distinct pools into one cohesive structure: a lap pool, whirlpool, and cold plunge, each equipped with a chiller system.
Spanning more than 70 feet, the main pool is ideal for rigorous lap swimming. On the other hand, the whirlpool and cold plunge provide a relaxing escape and a refreshing contrast. Furthermore, we included plenty of bench seating throughout. Each body of water features all-tile interiors and natural stone coping, showcasing comfort, craftsmanship, and elegance. The finishes were carefully chosen to ensure both sophistication and durability.
Prioritizing Safety and Usability
Above all, safety, usability, and temperature control were key considerations in the design. We incorporated two separate automatic cover systems—one for the lap pool and one for the whirlpool/cold plunge area. These covers integrate seamlessly into the design with vanishing lid systems. Consequently, this clever design recesses the leading edge of the covers beneath the pool’s coping, maintaining a sleek and polished appearance.
